Photo competition winner

Our third photo competition, entitled "Christmas Canines" has been won by Belinda Allies
with this great shot of two of her early Basenjis, Gmbihi and Inja.

Congratulations to Belinda, who wins a £15 book token, and many thanks to "Our Dogs" photographer John Jackson for judging the competition.

John commented, "Can I thank everyone who took part in the competition. There were some imaginative images and people had obviously put quite some effort into it. They are all to be congratulated.

I ignored technical issues and concentrated solely on imagination and therefore I think the winner should be the two Basenjis sat in front of the fire waiting for Santa. I really do like this image

Obviously, as a professional photographer I have a different approach to taking pictures but it always give me immense pleasure to see people having a go. I see lots of images taken by people who fancy themselves as photographers and whilst they may be technically correct they haven't captured anything of spirit. They are boring. Much better the image that may not just have the correct exposure, is slightly out of focus or not framed just right but has captured the spirit of the moment. That moment may only last a split second but if you've caught it that's all that matters and you've got it for keeps."

Thanks to all who submitted entries.

Details of the next competition will be in the April newsletter
